This week the Buckeyes for Concealed Carry on Campus released a video detailing the stories of two students at Ohio State University who had been or would be victims of assault on campus.

The video shows what the difference of carrying a gun on campus would be versus the dangers of not being armed in the event of an assault.

The stories are real, and they are very powerful.

Mike Newbern, the President of Buckeyes for Concealed Carry on Campus at Ohio State University, has been under vicious attack ever since his wrongful detainment while attending a candlelight vigil for Trayvon Martin.

Specifically, the Department of African American and African Studies, whom started a hate crime petition and made an official statement against Mike, and Lauren Michelle Kinsey of Plunderbund, made the two most scathing remarks, calling Mike a "hate criminal".

However, after an op-ed that ran in the Ohio Dispatch, that called out Plunderbund for it's inflamatory remarks, and Mike's meeting with members of the OSU group 'Stand Your Ground', Kinsey has decidedly changed her tone.

Ohio State University Police detained and drew their weapons on student-activist Mike Newbern for demonstrating his support for gun rights by wearing an empty holster to a candlelight vigil for Trayvon Martin on Wednesday.

Newbern, the president of Buckeyes for Concealed Carry, was taken forcibly into police custody just after 8:30 p.m., while he was standing at the front of the crowd wearing an empty holster, which was clearly visible on his belt, and with his hands crossed in front of his chest.

A police report released on Thursday indicates two officers drew their firearms before approaching Newbern and removing him from the vigil. They searched and questioned Newbern and confiscated his personal belongings, including his empty holster and camera case, before placing him handcuffed in the back of a cruiser for 30 minutes.

Today is International Women's Day, and at Campus Reform we recognize that it can be hard for a conservative woman to go to school in a feminist's world.

In recognition of Women's Day we are highlighting the Network of Enlightened Women (NeW) for their work in revolutionizing the college campus, and promoting true equality.

NOTE: This blog post was written by LI Regional Field Coordinator Mike Armstrong

Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA, has joined a list of other religious colleges across the country to file a federal lawsuit against the Obama Administration.

The lawsuit is in response to an unconstitutional mandate by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for religious employers to provide contraceptives to employees.  As a Christian college, Geneva objected to the mandate on the grounds of religious freedom.

The primary reason behind Geneva's decision was that many contraceptives covered by the HHS mandate were abortifacients.

On Valentines Day the Buckeyes for Concealed Carry on Campus held a "Buycott" event in front of their university's local Starbucks to show their support for the company's decision to support open carry in their coffee shops.

Two days later, the event which was orchestrated by just 20 students, caught the attention of local and national press, which included the LA Times, the Christian Science Monitor, and the Lantern.

BCCC member Rami Aziz was a participant in the event and a recent graduate of the Leadership Institute's Student Activism Conference this past January at our headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.
